In a recent development, Badr Al Samaa Royal Hospital, the flagship premium venture of Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals inaugurated the state-of-the art and very advanced Intensive Coronary Care, Cardiac Critical Care & Observation Unit (ICCU) to treat seriously ill heart patients suffering from heart attacks, heart failure and other critical heart conditions.  The ICCU was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Ameed (Dr.) Abdul Malik bin Sulaiman bin Khalaf Al Kharusi, Assistant Chairman - Medical City for Military & Security Services (Supplies & Support) & Senior Consultant - General Medicine & Cardiology in presence of the Guest of Honour, Dr. Najib Al Rawahi, Director of the National Heart Centre & Chairman of the Advanced Heart Failure Committee, Royal Hospital, MoH, Managing Director, Dr. P A Mohamed, Executive Director, Firasath Hassan, Senior Management of Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals and various dignitaries from public and private sector. 
This advanced Intensive Coronary Care, Cardiac Critical Care & Observation Unit (ICCU) at Badr Al Samaa Royal Hospital is fully equipped to cater seriously ill heart patients suffering from heart attacks, heart failure and other critical heart conditions. With a capacity of total 7 beds, the unit is  equipped with state of the art equipment and manned by an expert team of doctors and nurses under the leadership of Dr. Benny Panakkal, Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist having more than two decades of experience in Oman.


In his welcome note, Firasath Hassan reiterated the vision of the group in providing the most advanced medical facilities with Oman and considerably reduce the need to patients to travel abroad. He said this addition of ICCU is one more step towards providing the best healthcare services to the people of Oman. 
Dr. P A Mohamed, in his address said, “Since the time we inaugurated this Badr Al Samaa Royal Hospital we continuously kept upgrading our technology and services and today, with addition of ICCU I am proud to share that our cardiology department at Badr Al Samaa Royal Hospital is now well established”. 


Abdul Latheef, Managing Director of Badr Al Samaa Group and Board Member of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on this occasion said, “We have plans to add more advanced facilities and clinical experts to Badr Al Samaa Royal Hospital, which will eventually increase of competence aimed at exceptional treatment outcomes”. 


Moiden Bilal, Executive Director of Badr Al Samaa Group expressed satisfaction over this step of advancement at Badr Al Samaa Royal Hospital. He said due to centralized location of hospital, the ICCU will prove live saving to a wider population. 
Chief Guest, Ameed (Dr.) Abdul Malik bin Sulaiman bin Khalaf Al Kharusi said the launch of this ICCU will boost the national capacity for Cardiac Critical Care which eventually will help treat and save many more lives. He congratulated Badr Al Samaa Royal Hospital for this step towards advanced heart care. 


Guest of Honour, Dr. Najib Al Rawahi appreciated this addition of services by Badr Al Samaa Group. He said any addition to cardiac care is an addition to national capacity building and Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals has always been progressing in service to the community. 


Dr. Benny Panakkal delivered a presentation focusing how Badr Al Samaa Group pioneered Cardiac Critical Care in private health sector of Oman more than two decades back and how it continues to be the major contributor in bed capacity of critical heart patients. He presented the in-depth details about the newly inaugurated ICCU and the strong team of Senior Consultants, Consultants, Specialists, skilled nurses and technologists who are all set to efficiently run the heart care services.
