Badr Al Samaa Royal Hospital officially launched its Cochlear Implant Program under the Centre of Excellence in Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) during a special ceremony held at the hospital in Al Ghubrah, Muscat. The program was inaugurated by His Excellency Ali Khalfan Al Hassani, Member of Majlis A’Shura, Wilayat of Bousher, Muscat, in the presence of the management, senior doctors, dignitaries, and invited guests.
The launch marks another important milestone in Badr Al Samaa Royal Hospital’s commitment to bringing advanced, globally benchmarked healthcare services to the people of Oman within Oman itself. The newly launched Cochlear Implant Program aims to provide advanced hearing restoration solutions for children and adults suffering from severe to profound hearing loss, particularly in cases where conventional hearing aids are not sufficient.
Cochlear implantation is an advanced medical technology that bypasses the damaged part of the inner ear and directly stimulates the hearing nerve, helping patients reconnect with the world of sound, communication, learning, and social interaction. The program is supported by advanced surgical technology, audiology services, rehabilitation support, and specialized ENT expertise. The program is led by experienced ENT consultants including Dr. Mazin Jawad Al Khabouri, Senior Consultant ENT Surgeon, and Dr. Subirendra Kumar, Senior Consultant ENT Surgeon, along with a dedicated multidisciplinary support team.
His Excellency Ali Khalfan Al Hassani appreciated the initiative and highlighted the importance of strengthening advanced healthcare services within Oman. He stated: “Such initiatives contribute significantly towards improving quality of life and ensuring patients have access to advanced treatment and care within the country itself.”
